Online Proctoring allows you the convenience of taking the process remotely from your own computer. These processes/modules are proctored online, in order to ensure the integrity of the process, and also to ensure fairness for the genuine candidates who put in immense amounts of time and effort.

What is Online Proctoring

Remote Proctoring allows us to monitor your entire session using your Camera, Microphone and Browser. Your session will get recorded and analyzed, via automated and manual means to detect any fraudulent or suspicious behavior.

Get your computer/system ready for the process

To take this online proctored process, you must have the following:

Machine: Only Use Only Use Laptop/Desktop. Do Not Use Mobile/Tablet
Operating System: Windows 8 or 10/Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks or Higher
Video & Audio: Camera/Webcam and Microphone is mandatory
RAM: 8 GB or more
Processor: i3 5th Generation 2.2Ghz equivalent or higher
Browser: Only Google Chrome version 81 & above. No Beta versions allowed.
Cookies & Popups: Should be enabled in the browser settings
Internet Connection: Stable Speed of 2Mbps or more. (Download and Upload Speed)
Try using Broadband. Avoid using unstable 3G/4G Network/Mobile Hotspot
VPN & Proxy: There should not be any VPN or Proxy configured in the system.

Check if your computer is compatible

Ensure that your hardware is setup

Make sure that your laptop/desktop is connected to the power supply and/or UPS
Make sure that your system's audio/video is in good working condition and are enabled in system and browser settings
Make sure that your face is well-lit and clearly visible in the camera

Ensure that your operating system is setup

Disable/close your screensaver.
Disable/Remove anti-virus and other communication apps
Disable Windows and Anti Virus updates.

Things to do during the process

Please make sure you are always visible in the camera throughout the process
Proctoring service is not mandatory for the last 2 sessions (Quiz and Feedback), so it is fine if the proctoring
services go off during these 2 sessions/modules.

FAQs/Common issues faced during the process

Is it mandatory to complete the entire modules/process in one go?

No, you can have multiple login and log out, but you need to finish the entire process/modules within the given time frame as per your invitation mail.
Every time you login back, make sure your proctoring services have been started.

I am not able to Login.

  • Please check if you are using the PAN Card or Mail ID for logging in.
  • Please use the latest link received in the mail.
  • Please reset the password.

I get an error saying "An error has occurred" while adding the extension.

Please check if the internet speed is as per the requirement (2 MBPS and above, Download and Upload Both).
Please check and confirm the system configuration and compatibility.

I get an error saying "Could not get Proctoring Session, please reload the page and try"

Please make sure you are logging in using a PAN Card and the latest link received in the mail.
Write an email to NISM in detail if the issue is not fixed with the above 2 steps.

I get an error saying "Not able to start the proctoring service"

  • Please perform the below steps in lined with the system configuration and compatibility
  • Disable/Remove/Uninstall Antivirus
  • Disable Windows Defender and Firewall
  • Clear the Browser Cache
  • Clear the Browser Local storage
  • Clear the temp folder
  • There should not be any VPN configured in the system.
  • There should not be any proxy configured in the system.
  • Add/Remove extension again in Chrome
  • Users should not be using multiple tabs of the browser.
  • Disable all other chrome extensions
  • Uninstall and Reinstall Chrome
  • Check the hosts file on C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
  • System restart after all the above steps.

Approach the support if the issue is still not fixed after performing all the above steps.

I am not able to get the image box to capture the Photo ID.

  • Please check your inbuilt camera resolution if it is up to the requirement.
  • Check the same On: https://webcamtests.com/resolution
  • Minimum supported camera resolution is 640*480.
  • Try using an external camera by disabling the inbuilt camera and making the external camera as default, by following the onscreen guidelines after you plugged in the external camera.

My session is running but without Proctoring.

Kindly approach the support.

How to Refresh/Reload the browser page.

Press Ctrl+Shift+R together from your keyboard.

I get an error saying "System clock is out of sync."

It's a system TimeZone Issue.
Set the system timezone to the local timezone and enable the date and time sync.
Restart the system

I get an error saying "Camera/Microphone not available"

  • Close all applications or other tabs in the browser accessing the camera/microphone and reload the browser.
  • Allow apps to access your camera should be ON
  • Allow apps to access your microphone should be ON
  • Voice Recorder also should be ON
  • Please check if the camera default app is working in the system.

Proctoring stopped and my session/course is not completed.

Please make sure you have completed the course within the given timeline and duration.
If the issue still persists then kindly approach the support.

Play button is not there in the video.

Please check if you are logged in in multiple browsers or pages.
Close all the browser/tabs and try again.
If the issue still persists then kindly approach the support.

Quiz is not Starting or Nothing happens after clicking on "Start Quiz" Button

Go to console of browser page and execute the below command
var startQuizButton = document.getElementsByName('startQuiz')[0];startQuizButton.removeAttribute('disabled');
Session might need to be submitted from the backend, approach the support.

I get an error saying "Device not Compatible"

This error occurs if you are using a mobile or a tablet.
Please make sure that you take the test from a laptop or a desktop.
Please check and confirm that your system meets the requirements.

I accidentally blocked access to my Camera and Microphone

  • Go to: Chrome -> Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Privacy & Security-> Site Settings ->
  • Kindly allow access to your camera and microphone in your system as well as in your browser settings.
  • Ensure pop-ups are unblocked and browser cookies are enabled.
  • Ensure the camera/mic is not off/muted in your system
  • Ensure the camera/mic is not disabled in your browser.
  • Ensure the volume is marked at the highest level.

My Camera/Mic is not getting detected or Re-Enabling Camera/Mic

Kindly allow access to your camera and microphone in your system as well as in your browser settings. Ensure pop-ups are unblocked and browser cookies are enabled.
Remove Chrome Extensions/Disable Window Defender/Remove Anti-Virus Click/Press on Windows Icon ---> Go to Settings ---> Click on Privacy ---> Click on Camera on the left side panel ---> Allow apps to access your camera should be ON
AND
Click on Microphone on the left side panel ---> Allow apps to access your microphone should be ON and Voice Recorder also should be ON.
Uninstall and Reinstall google chrome if issue is not fixed
Restart the system

I get an error saying your System is Too Slow/Too many Apps Running/Slow System Detected

This error occurs if you have less RAM or Processor Speed is too slow, and/or you have too many other applications Open/Running.
Please check and confirm the system requirements for RAM: 8 GB or More and Processor: i3 5th Generation 2.2Ghz or more
Please close all other applications through Task Manager (Alt+Ctrl+Del), and restart your system. If you still see the error, then please change to a faster machine.

I get an error saying Your Internet Connection is too slow/Problem with Connection

  • You might not have the appropriate bandwidth allocated with the website or it's not stable or it's fluctuating.
  • You might not have the sufficient upload and download speed.
  • Please try using the broadband. Please avoid using unstable 3G/4G connections.
  • If you are using a broadband, please try restarting your router and modem.
  • Make sure that no one else is sharing the connection and its being used only by you for the entire duration of the test.
  • Do not use Mobile Internet/Hotspot
  • Please ensure that the signal between your router/modem is strong and stable if you are using a Wifi.

I get an error saying "Browser not compatible"

  • Please Check and Confirm on the below Browser Requirement/Compatibility
  • Google Chrome version 81 and above (up to 5 latest versions considered). Beta version not allowed.
  • No extensions installed/added in the browser
  • All the Pop Ups Enabled
  • Mozilla not supported

I Accidentally closed the Browser

Do not click on the Complete/Submit Button in any other window opened on your screen.
Click on the link again and enter the credentials and continue with the process..

My System Hanged/Shutdown/Restarted

Please access your process again using the original credentials (Link, Username and Password) shared with you.

Step by Step system process guide

(Restarting the system is mandatory after performing any/all of the below troubleshooting steps)

Antivirus-Removing/Uninstalling: -

Click/Press on Windows Icon ---> Go to Control Panel ---> Click/Select Programs and Features or Programmes ---> Click/Select on the Anti-Virus ---> Click on Remove/Uninstall ---> Follow the on-screen guidance.

Browser Extension Removal: -

Open Chrome ---> Click on the 3 Dots on the top right corner of the Browser window ---> Hover the cursor on More Tools (it will open a new window) ---> Select all the extensions and click on Remove ---> Click on Remove/OK in the pop up window.

Browser/Chrome Re-Installation:-

Open any Browser ---> Go to Google.com ---> Search Google Chrome ---> Download and Install it.

Browser/Chrome Removal/Uninstallation :-

Click/Press on Windows Icon ---> Go to Control Panel ---> Click/Select Programs and Features or Programmes ---> Click/Select the Google Chrome ---> Click on Remove/Uninstall ---> Follow the on-screen guidance.

Camera/Mic Enabling :-

Click/Press on Windows Icon ---> Go to Settings ---> Click on Privacy ---> Click on Camera on the left side panel ---> Allow apps to access your camera should be ON
AND
Click on Microphone on the left side panel ---> Allow apps to access your microphone should be ON and Voice Recorder also should be ON.

Checking the Browser/Chrome Version:-

Open Chrome ---> Click on the 3 Dots on the top right corner of the Browser window ---> Hover the cursor on Help ---> Click on About Google Chrome ---> Check the Version.

Clearing the Browser Cache:-

Open Chrome ---> Click on the 3 Dots on the top right corner of the Browser window ---> Click on Setting ---> Type 'cache' in the search setting search box ---> Select/Click on Clear Browsing Data ---> Select 'All the time' in Time range ---> Select Only 3 options (Cookies and other site data, Cached images and files and hosted app data) ---> Click on Clear Data Button. (It may take some time)

Clearing the Browser Local Storage: -

Open Chrome ---> Click on the 3 Dots on the top right corner of the Browser window ---> Hover the cursor on More Tools ---> Select/Click on Developer Tools ---> Click on Console ---> Type localStorage.clear() in the white blank space and hit Enter key on keyboard.

Clearing the temp folder: -

Press Window+R ---> type %temp% and click on OK ---> click on any file in the folder opened and Press CTRL+A ---> Press Shift+Del ---> Click on Continue or Skip wherever it prompts to ---> Close the window once The process is over.

Proxy-Checking/Disabling the configured in the system: -

Right Click on the Internet/Wifi icon on the right bottom corner of the Taskbar ---> Click on Open Network & Internet Setting ---> Click on Proxy on the left side ---> Automatically detect setting should be On ---> Use a Proxy server should be Off.

System Configuration-How to Check: -

Click/Press on Windows Icon ---> Search for This PC/My Computer ---> Right Click on This PC/My Computer ---> Click on Properties

Time Zone-Changing to Local:-

Click/Press on Windows Icon ---> Go to Settings ---> Date & Time Settings ---> Time Zone ---> Select (UTC+05:30) Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, check in that automatic time zone box, click on Sync.

VPN-Checking/Disabling the configuration in the system: -

Right Click on the Internet/Wifi icon on the right bottom corner of the Taskbar ---> Click on Open Network & Internet Setting ---> Click on VPN on the left side ---> Off both the option (Allow VPN over metered connection and Allow VPN while roaming)

Windows Defender and Firewall-Disabling:-

Click/Press on Windows Icon ---> Go to Control Panel ---> Click/Select Window Defender Firewall ---> Click/Select Turn Window Defender Firewall On or Off ---> Select Turn Off under Private network setting and public network setting ---> Click on OK.
